Year-End Tidbit 1 Of 3: Ursula Burns
As the year draws to a close, I’ll share with you a few tidbits that have crossed my desk in recent weeks. Look for brief posts about Genevieve Bell (Intel) and Jane Silber (Canonical) in the coming days, but first, check out this article about Ursula Burns.
While being a CEO doesn’t necessarily make one geeky, being at the head of a major tech company like Xerox must be worthy of a few geek points for Ursula Burns. Her career with the company spans nearly thirty years, and though she started as a mechanical engineer, her roles have expanded dramatically since then.
The aforementioned article covers more about Burns’ “humble beginnings” than her engineering origins, but does shed some light on what kind of career can be designed in the STEM fields.
