Open Source Bridge: Day Three’s Unconference

The Open Source Bridge continues here in Portland, Oregon. While a number of folks took off last night and this morning for their homelands, many of us are hanging out at the Unconference. This is the first unconference that I’ve attended.

While this may or may not be the formal definition of an unconference, it seems to be an attendee-formatted event. While most conferences have a specified program that’s determined weeks - if not months - in advance, an unconference is put together on the fly.

This morning, Open Source Bridge co-chair Audrey Eschright announced the beginning of the unconference. Folks interested in running a session wrote their topics down on a giant post-it, stuck it on a board for the world to see, and announced it to the folks in the ballroom. And away we went!

While the topics range from file formats to free banking, at the moment I’m listening to a bunch of folks singing. Apparently, there’s an open source choir. Wild!

More on the rest of the conference when time permits. Off I go to jump back into the fray.
