Hitting The Gaming Motherlode: Cerise Magazine
Cerise Magazine is an online monthly magazine by and for women gamers. ‘Nuff said, but I’ll expound.
From their Mission Statement: "Our features include industry news, profiles of gender-inclusive game modules, spotlights of game developers and prominent voices in gamer communities, game reviews, art, and editorials." Cerise Magazine is part of the Iris Gaming Network, whose goal is to "bring women’s perspectives into the mainstream".
According to the Cerise Magazine archive, there are at least 16 issues for you to read, so get busy! While I couldn’t find anything on my game of choice, EVE Online, there’s plenty about WoW, Final Fantasy and D&D, which are now pretty much the classics.
I also found a few references to "Girls Don’t Game", a blog about video games from five different gamer women. More on that in a later post.
For those of you who are looking for more information about all aspects of gaming from a woman’s perspective, this is definitely worth a look. The interviews and reviews seem to be the meat of the site, but don’t forget to check out the odds and ends on "The Back Page". And drop them a line if you dig their stuff!
