Project 1: Assemble The Elenco/Amerikit AK-510 Motion Detector, Part 1
Here’s a quick update on Project One.
Once upon a time, I started to assemble this very basic motion detector kit, but never completed it. As part of my new quest to Not Be A Poser, I decided to finish this thing and get it off my workbench. (I’ve got two spaceship models to build, and need the room!)
Today, I took a few moments to finish soldering the capacitors and diodes to the board. Next step is to stage the resistors and get them done, but first I’m going to get a little soldering advice from an EE friend of mine who has more experience than I do, and might provide a few tips for making better connections. They’ll probably work, but they’re not sexy, and I want the final product to look good, not MacGyvered.
Looks like I just might reach my goal: I gave myself until the end of the month to finish it, and I’ve only got a few days left. Nothing like giving yourself a deadline to increase your productivity!
