Dr. Horrible’s First Episode: Today’s The Day!
Just in case you’ve missed the hype, the first episode of Joss Whedon’s “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” is up today. Featuring Felicia Day, Firefly’s Nathan Fillion, and the irrepressible Neil Patrick Harris in the title role, this would have been great even if it sucked, which it didn’t. Which means that every geek and her mother will be hitting that site trying to load the video.
Jump in the queue! It’s your bandwidth versus everyone else’s bandwidth, duking it out old-school! (Ok, it’s actually Joss’ server’s bandwidth, which better be beefy indeed, or geeks will be stomping and crying all morning long.)
This episode starts with Dr. Horrible’s signature laugh and soon moves into Strongbad email territory. “The status is not quo!” I really want those goggles. (Better add that to the gadget list.) The dancing shoulders just slay me, no pun intended. Also need the Horrible Van Remote. And Captain Hammer’s entrance is simply laugh-out-loud-pause-before-you-miss-dialog hilarious. Perfect for Fillion.
“Dr Horrible” is exactly what I’ve come to expect from Joss Whedon. The low production values don’t detract from the content - in fact, they lend it some credibility - and the acting (and singing) are very good. It’s amazing what you can do with talent and a good script. What did you think?
Episodes 2 and 3 are scheduled for web viewing later this week. Check the site for updates.

Well, you warned me: “the server at http://www.drhorrible.com is taking too long to respond.” Dammit, I was going to show it to the Bean, who is too young to have seen Buffy or Firefly. The children–won’t someone please think of the children?
