Are You Pursuing A Ph.D. In Robotics Or Automation?
No, you’re not? Well, would you like to?
Yes, you are? Well, would you like a little help getting it done?
This is specifically directed at those of you who are IEEE members, but if you’re not, here’s a reason to join quick, fast, and in a hurry:
“The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society is sponsoring a fellowship for a female Ph.D. student in the areas of robotics and/or automation, to be expended before the end of the 2008 calendar year.” This would be the 2008 IEEE RAS Fellowship for Women in Robotics and Automation.
Let me sum up the requirements: you’ve already got to be a bit of a rock star for this one, with a list of previous accomplishments and potential for future innovation, but if you’re chasing your Ph.D. in robotics or automation, my guess is you can handle that. Last year (the first year this fellowship was offered), there were 38 applicants for the fellowship.
Why should you care? Because the fellowship comes with a 12,500 USD stipend, for tuition and other research-associated costs. Not bad, eh?
Naturally, you have to be a female doctoral student fully admitted to a Ph.D. program at an eligible academic institution and a member of the IEEE RAS to apply. There are some other hoops to jump as well, so check out the IEEE RAS site for details. And hurry up, because the deadline is August 1, 2008.
Good luck!
