“Women of Vision” Awards this Thursday
For anyone near the Silicon Valley, the Anita Borg Institute is hosting the "Women of Vision" Awards Banquet this Thursday evening, which honors women who have made "significant contributions to technology." The categories are innovation, leadership and social impact.
This year’s recipients are:
- Innovation Award Winner: Helen Greiner , Co-founder and Chairman, iRobot
- Social Impact Award Winner: Susan Landau , Distinguished Engineer, Sun Microsystems, Inc.
- Leadership Award Winner: Justine Cassell , Professor, Northwestern University
The Anita Borg Institute is "changing the world for women and technology ", and they’ve certainly got some heavy hitters involved. I’m particularly interested in SYSTERS , and will talk about that in the coming days, but what most impresses me is seeing so many women prominently listed as members of the technology community.
ADDITION: just found this video of last year’s Leadership Award recipient, Duy-Loan Le. Wow. This is the kind of thing I want everyone to see.
