TechShop: Loads of tools, soon near you

TechShop - "Kinko’s for geeks" - is the kind of place where you can build whatever your geeky mind can conjure up. Got an idea, but don’t have a plasma cutter, or a lathe, or a drill press, or an industrial sewing machine? Join a TechShop!

Don’t have a TechShop in your town? Well, take a deep breath, because if you’re one of the lucky folks who live in one of these towns (and I am), then TechShop is coming to you! (Exhale.)

TechShop is a members only outfit, but they have a scale of membership options available. Got a project you can knock out in a day or two? Get a day pass. Working on something with a team, and it might take a few weeks to get it done? Get a monthly. And if you’re completely gung-ho about building cool stuff all the time, then buy an annual membership. Even if it is nearly $900 US (currently, the S.F.-area TechShop is holding a Maker Faire special), it’s still *much* cheaper than individually buying all the tools you’ll have access to at a TechShop.

And when you’re done building something cool, share your success with the rest of us!
