Eve Online + Webcomic = Warp Drive Active

In my eternal, and so far unfruitful, search for other women playing Eve Online (besides Crash, that is), I bring you another tidbit to try to entice you to play. The $1 million ISK bribe isn’t working (come on, people!), so I’m raising it to $2 million. And I’m giving you some stuff to check out while you ponder to yourself why you haven’t signed up yet.

Warp Drive Active is a webcomic that has been around almost as long as the game itself, and now they’ve even got a podcast. (Now, I haven’t checked out the podcast yet, so if it sucks, don’t blame me.) Start at the most recent, then work your way back. These will make more sense if you already play, but even if you don’t get the jokes, you can see screenshots from the game. Also, the website is a bit clunky. Click on the comic, then try to find the one before it, and so on.

What the hell is Eve Online all about? Check out the Eve Online background page, which gives some info on the various races, organizations and items. The short stories are occasionally interesting (”occasionally” is more polite than “once in a blue moon”), but I’ve only read a few of them, and we all know that three attempts does not science make.

Got any questions about Eve Online game play? Drop me a line at ubergeeke@dotfiveone.com or use the handy form on the Contact page. I’ll tell you all about it.
