.51 - More Good Things To Read
So far, so good, sister geeks.
On 5/1/2008, .51 launched itself into the ether, and I’m pretty psyched by how things have gone this month. Now, I don’t want to get all self-congratulatory, because it’s only been a few days, but I’ve seen a really good response so far. Thanks to all the people who’ve submitted their feedback, and *HUGE* thanks to the folks who donated to the site. Your contributions are helping to improve .51 on a daily basis.
Here’s a quick peek at some of the things to come.
In June:
- Comments enabled on the site. Your feedback and interaction is very important, and a number of people have suggested that I not wait until some indeterminate “later” to enable comments. (Also, I’m getting tired of being beaten about the head and shoulders with 2×4s by my so-called friends every time I’m out at a pub, trying to enjoy a cool, frosty one. “Enable the comments, already!” Okay, okay.)
- Dedicated pages for How-To posts and Interviews.
- More guest posts from folks who have more geek cred in some subjects than I do (mathematics, Python, etc.)
- Webcomics!
The Indeterminate Future:
- A forum for geeks, where you can interact with other women and discuss the same subjects you see posted here. How keen would that be?
- A job-posting network, with simple “looking for a (fill in the blank)” posts when you’ve got a tech or geek job and want to give first crack to other women geeks. (Roach suggested that this might be cool sooner rather than later.)
